Accessibility Statement bildungssystem.at

OeAD, Austria's Agency for Education and Internationalisation is commited to making its Websites accessible, in accordance with the Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz (Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz – WZG).

This accessibility statement applies to bildungssystem.at

Compliance status

We strive to make our website accessible to all. In doing so, we are guided by the current standards of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). In 2020, an accessibility check was carried out for this purpose, and a re-check was carried out after programming-technical improvements towards accessibility. In 2020, an accessibility check was carried out for this purpose, and after programming improvements towards even greater accessibility, a re-check was carried out. accessibility, a re-check was carried out.

As of 5 November 2021, this website is partially compliant with Conformance Level AA of the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1” and the applicable European standard according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

a. Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
The complex graphic representation of the education system and the individual levels might not be able to be interpreted in a meaningful way by users of assistive technologies.

As the primary purpose of this website is the "graphical representation of the Austrian education system", despite all efforts to improve usability and accessibility, there may be a lack of alternative representation and reading order of the main interactive graphic.

In some cases, a very small font is used in this graphic. In some cases, the font is also used in a horizontal reading direction. Enlargement by means of zooming is possible.

Display when zooming: The graphic is available via scrolling in all zoom levels. One problem could be that, especially on the desktop, content on the right is no longer easily accessible when zoomed in. However, all content is also available in an alternative way as text.

We are working on further improvements in the next development cycles.

b. Disproportionate burden
Numerous PDF documents are not accessible. For example, posters and leaflets with the graphic representation of the education system can be downloaded as PDFs, but these are not tagged, so that they cannot or can only insufficiently be grasped and used by screen reader users; language markings and alternative texts are also missing here. We are of the opinion that a remedy would represent a disproportionate burden in terms of accessibility regulations, as these are PDF documents containing the "graphic representation" of the education system.

However, we plan to take these requirements into account in the next development cycles.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on November 5, 2021.

The assessment of the website's compliance with the WCAG for the implementation of the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 was carried out in the form of a self-test according to WCAG 2.1 in compliance level AA as well as on the basis of an assessment carried out by a third party. Ten page templates were tested, including the homepage, several description pages of education levels, a content page and a news page. Individual page contents are regularly checked by the web editorial team when new content is published.

The statement was last reviewed on November 5, 2021.
